Hye-jin Woo Nurse
Transcript
Hello, my name is Hye-jin Woo. I'm a nurse.
Why are my blood pressure and pulse checked before a drip?
Blood pressure and pulse are checked before a drip as a basic safety step. The readings give a starting point and help show whether an infusion is a reasonable choice at that visit.
Adding fluid to the bloodstream can affect blood pressure and how hard the heart works. Readings that are very high, very low or irregular may lead staff to pause, ask more questions or check with a supervising clinician. The readings may be repeated during or after the drip.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your nurse or clinician can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
