How to show your waiting room TV

The waiting room TV comes with Plus. Your TV address plays your chosen videos in a loop. Here are the common ways to open it on a TV.

See pricing

Before you start

  • Find your TV address on the Waiting room TV page of your Lobbypie account.
  • Where a browser does not play sound by itself, press OK once when the TV page asks. To skip that press, see Sound that starts by itself.
  • Changes you make to the list reach the TV by themselves within a minute.

A smart TV’s own web browser

Many Samsung, LG and Hisense TVs have a web browser built in.

Samsung

  1. Press Home on the remote and open Internet.
  2. Select the address bar, type your TV address and choose Go.
  3. Add a bookmark, so it opens again in one step.

To keep it on, open Settings, All Settings, General and Privacy, Power and Energy Saving, and turn off Auto Power Off and Auto Power Saving.

LG

  1. Press Home and open Web Browser.
  2. Type your TV address in the bar at the top.
  3. Open the menu and choose Add to Bookmarks.

To keep it on, open Settings, All Settings, General, Energy Saving, and turn off Auto Power Off.

Hisense

  1. Open More Apps, then Browser, and type your TV address.
  2. Bookmark the page, or add it to the Home screen.

Other TVs

Many Sony, TCL and other Google TV sets have no web browser. Use Chromecast or a computer instead.

Amazon Fire TV

  1. On the home screen, search for Silk and download Amazon Silk Browser.
  2. Open Silk, select the address bar and type your TV address.
  3. Choose Add Bookmark, so it opens again quickly.

Fire TV may show its screen saver after a while. Its settings are under Settings, Display and Sounds.

Roku

Roku has no web browser. Open the TV page on a phone, tablet or computer and show its screen on the Roku.

  • From an iPhone, iPad or Mac: on the Roku, open Settings, Apple AirPlay and HomeKit, and turn AirPlay on. Then follow the Apple TV steps below.
  • From an Android phone or a Windows computer: use screen mirroring. On Android it is often called Smart View or Cast; on Windows 11, press the Windows key and K. Choose Allow on the TV.

Not every Roku, phone or computer can do this. The device has to stay on and on the same Wi-Fi while it shows the page.

Apple TV

Apple TV has no web browser. Show the page from an iPhone, iPad or Mac with AirPlay.

  1. Connect the iPhone, iPad or Mac to the same Wi-Fi as the Apple TV.
  2. Open your TV address in Safari.
  3. Open Control Center, choose Screen Mirroring and pick your Apple TV. Enter the code if one shows.

Keep the device on and unlocked: on an iPhone or iPad, set Settings, Display and Brightness, Auto-Lock to Never. On the Apple TV, set Settings, General, Sleep After to Never.

Chromecast, Google TV Streamer or a TV with Google Cast

  1. On a computer on the same Wi-Fi, open your TV address in Chrome.
  2. Open the menu with three dots, choose Cast, save and share, then Cast.
  3. Pick your TV. Keep the computer on and the tab open.

From an Android phone: in the Google Home app, choose your TV, then Cast my screen.

Chrome on an iPhone or iPad cannot cast a tab. Use AirPlay or a computer instead.

A computer plugged in by HDMI

A spare laptop, a small computer or a stick computer works well and needs no phone nearby.

  1. Plug the computer into the TV with an HDMI cable.
  2. Open your TV address in Chrome, Edge or Safari.
  3. Go full screen: press F11 on Windows, or Control, Command and F together on a Mac.
  4. Turn off sleep. On Windows 11: Settings, System, Power and battery, then set the screen and sleep times to Never. On a Mac: System Settings, Lock Screen, then never turn the display off on the power adapter.

Sound that starts by itself

Browsers usually wait for a press before they play sound, so the TV page asks for one. To skip it, use the setting for your setup.

Chrome on a computer, or a tab cast from it

Open your TV address in Chrome. To the left of the address, select View site information, then Site settings, and set Sound to Allow.

A computer or mini PC in Chrome kiosk mode

Set Sound to Allow as above before you start kiosk mode, or add --autoplay-policy=no-user-gesture-required to the command or shortcut that starts Chrome.

Microsoft Edge

Open Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Media autoplay, and choose Allow.

Safari on a Mac

With your TV address open, choose Website Settings from the Page menu in the address bar, and set Auto-Play to Allow All Auto-Play.

Android TV or Google TV with Fully Kiosk Browser

Hold Back on the remote to open its menu, then choose Settings, Web Content Settings, and turn on Autoplay Videos. Set Start URL to your TV address so the page opens by itself.

A smart TV’s own browser, or Fire TV with Silk

Their makers’ guides list no setting for this. After you turn the TV on, press OK once when the TV page asks (on a Fire TV remote, the middle of the ring). The sound then stays on for every video after it.

Questions about your waiting room TV

Where do we find the address to open on our TV?

Open Waiting room TV in your Lobbypie account and copy your TV address. It is separate from the page link you share with visitors.

Which videos will the TV play?

It loops the approved videos you add to its list, in the order you choose. Manage that list on the Waiting room TV page in your account.

Can we use a TV without a web browser?

Yes. You can open the TV address on a computer connected to the TV by HDMI. This page also gives options for casting or showing another device’s screen.

Why does the TV start without sound?

Browsers usually wait for a press before they play sound. Press OK once when the TV page asks, and the sound stays on for every video after it. To skip that press, follow Sound that starts by itself on this page.

Do we need to reopen the TV page after changing the list?

No. The TV page checks for changes and picks up the list you save in your account automatically. Keep the TV connected and prevent the device showing it from going to sleep.

Should we share the TV address with visitors?

Share it only with your team. Anyone with the TV address can watch its videos. Use your regular office-page link or QR sign for visitors.
