Hello, my name is Dr. Kahlon. I'm a wound care physician.
What happens at a wound care visit?
A wound care visit focuses on a wound that is slow to heal, often on the legs or feet. Visits usually begin with questions about the wound and any changes in your health.
A nurse or clinician removes the old dressing, cleans the wound and measures it. Photos are often taken to track changes over time. Sometimes unhealthy tissue is removed, a step called debridement. A new dressing goes on, and the plan for care at home is reviewed.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your wound care team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
