Hello, my name is Dr. Sivapalan. I'm a physician.
What happens at the first visit?
A first visit at a weight management clinic looks at your health and weight history as a whole. You are often asked about past weight changes, eating patterns, activity, sleep, stress and medicines.
Your weight and blood pressure are measured, and lab tests may be ordered. The clinician then explains options that may fit, such as nutrition and activity changes, counseling, medicines or, for some people, surgery. A dietitian or other team members may join the visit or meet with you later.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
