Hello, my name is Dr. Dunbar. I'm a laryngologist.

What happens at a voice evaluation?

A voice evaluation looks at how your voice sounds and how your voice box works. It often starts with questions about your symptoms and voice use.

You might read aloud, hold a sound and glide up and down in pitch while your voice is recorded. The vocal folds are often viewed with a thin camera passed through the nose or placed in the mouth. With stroboscopy, a flashing light may show the folds moving in slow motion.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can explain what your own exam showed.

Thanks for watching.
