Hello, my name is Stephanie Taveras. I'm a vehicle inspector.
Does my car need a safety or emissions inspection?
Whether a car needs a safety inspection, an emissions test, both or neither depends on where it is registered. Each state sets its own rules, and emissions tests are often required only in some areas.
The car's age, weight and fuel type can matter too, and some places exempt the newest cars. A safety inspection looks at parts such as brakes, lights, tires and steering. An emissions test often reads the car's computer through a port under the dashboard.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your service. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your inspection station can explain what applies to your own car.
Thanks for watching.
