Hello, my name is Dr. Ashdown. I'm a urologist.
What happens at a urology consultation?
A urology consultation is a visit with a urologist, a doctor for bladder, kidney and prostate problems. A urine sample is often collected at check-in. The urologist asks about symptoms, such as how often you urinate or trouble emptying the bladder.
Past health, medicines and family history come up too. A physical exam may follow, and depending on the concern, it can include the genital area. Some visits add blood tests or a bladder scan, which uses ultrasound on the lower belly.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your urologist can explain what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
