What happens at a swim meet?

A swim meet is an event with many swim races, often between teams. First, swimmers warm up in the pool. Each race has a number that some swimmers write on their arm.

Before your race, you wait behind your lane or in a waiting area. You can take a slow breath while you wait. A beep or a horn often starts the race, and everyone swims in their own lane.

People called timers watch each lane and record how fast each swimmer goes. At the finish, you touch the wall and climb out.

Thanks for watching!
