Hello, my name is Dr. Littlefield. I'm a surgeon.
What does surgery day look like from check-in to going home?
Surgery day at a surgery center starts at the front desk, where you show ID and sign forms. Most patients go home the same day.
The patient changes into a gown, and a nurse checks vital signs and medicines. An IV line is often placed. The surgeon and the anesthesia team usually stop by to review the plan. Afterward, nurses watch the patient in recovery as the anesthesia wears off. A responsible adult usually drives the patient home with written care instructions.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your surgical team can tell you what your own day includes.
Thanks for watching.
