Hello, my name is Dr. Hillesheim. I'm a sleep physician.
What happens at a sleep consultation?
A sleep consultation is a visit with a sleep specialist about your sleep and how alert you are during the day. The specialist asks about bedtimes, waking at night, snoring, naps and caffeine. What a bed partner notices often comes up too.
Questionnaires about daytime sleepiness are common, and the specialist may look at the nose, mouth and throat. Next steps might include a sleep diary or a sleep study, either at home or overnight in a sleep lab.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your sleep specialist can explain what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
