Hi, I'm Surinder. I'm a ski instructor.

What happens in my first lesson?

A first ski or snowboard lesson starts with putting on your gear. That can mean boots, a helmet and warm gloves. Then you meet your instructor, often with a group.

Lessons for beginners usually happen on a gentle slope. You can watch the instructor show each new move first. Then you try sliding and stopping on the snow. Some beginner areas have a moving walkway that carries you up the hill.

At the end, the instructor often brings the group back to the meeting spot.
