Hi, I'm Coach Desmond, a skating coach.
What happens the first time I skate?
The first time you skate, you often get skates in your size at a counter. Someone can help fasten them snugly. Walking in skates might feel wobbly at first.
You can hold your grown-up's hand as you step onto the rink. Many beginners hold the wall as they go. Some rinks have plastic skate helpers to lean on. Falling is common while you learn, and you can get back up.
When you finish, you take off the skates and put your shoes back on.
