Hello, my name is Dr. Galuvao. I'm a retina specialist.
What happens at a first specialist visit?
A first visit with a retina, glaucoma or cornea specialist is usually a detailed eye exam. A technician often starts by reviewing your history and medicines, checking vision and measuring eye pressure.
Drops often widen the pupils so the doctor can see the retina and optic nerve. Scans may include OCT, which maps the layers of the retina, and photos of the back of the eye. The specialist then examines each eye and explains what they see.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your eye doctor can explain what applies to your eyes.
Thanks for watching.
