Hello, my name is Dr. Hothi. I'm a pulmonologist.
What happens at a first lung visit?
A first lung visit often starts with weight, blood pressure and an oxygen check using a small clip on a finger. The pulmonologist then asks about breathing, cough, sleep, smoking or vaping, and exposures at work or home.
The exam includes listening to the lungs with a stethoscope. Breathing tests are often done in the office and involve blowing hard and fast into a tube. A chest X-ray or CT scan might be ordered, and inhalers are often reviewed.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
