Transcript

Hi, I'm Angela, a public health nurse.

What is a health department?

A health department is part of the government of a city, county or state. Its workers help everyone who lives there stay healthy.

Health department workers might check that restaurants keep food clean. They also keep track of germs that spread from person to person. Many health departments run clinics, too. At a clinic visit, a nurse might look at your vaccine record with your grown-up.

You can sit close to your grown-up while they talk. Then the nurse might give a vaccine, and your record gets updated.

Thanks for watching!
