Transcript

Hello, my name is Dr. Rintoul. I'm a plastic surgeon.

What happens at a reconstructive consultation?

A reconstructive consultation is a meeting with a plastic surgeon about how to repair or rebuild a part of the body. The reason might be an injury, a scar, a past surgery or a difference present from birth.

The surgeon asks about health history and medicines, then looks at the area. Choices can include waiting, care without surgery, or one or more surgeries. Photos are often taken for the medical record and for planning. Risks, possible scars and healing are also explained.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your surgeon can tell you what applies to you.

Thanks for watching.
