Transcript

Hi, I'm Dr. Ponnuthurai, a pediatric emergency physician.

Why is it taking so long?

A visit to a children's emergency department has several steps, with waiting in between. Kids who need help the fastest are seen first, so the order can change.

First, a nurse checks you and asks questions. Then you may wait to see a doctor. The doctor might ask for a test, like an x-ray. Holding very still helps the x-ray picture come out clear. Results can take a while.

When the results are ready, the doctor explains them to you and your grown-up.

Thanks for watching!
