Hello, my name is Gillian Tulloch. I'm a park ranger.
How does the Junior Ranger program work?
The Junior Ranger program is an activity program for children at many national parks and some state parks. It usually starts at the visitor center, where children pick up an activity booklet.
Booklets often hold activities matched to age, such as puzzles and scavenger hunts. Many booklets also ask children to join a ranger talk or walk. Back at the visitor center, a ranger looks over the finished booklet. The child often says a pledge and receives a badge or patch.
Call the visitor center if you have questions about your visit. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your park's rangers can explain how the program works there.
Thanks for watching.
