Transcript

Hello, my name is Dr. Redfern. I'm a palliative care physician.

What is palliative care?

Palliative care is medical care for people living with a serious illness, focused on comfort and quality of life. It can begin at any stage of an illness and is often given alongside other treatment.

A palliative care team often includes doctors, nurses and social workers. They ask about symptoms such as pain, tiredness, nausea or trouble sleeping, and about what matters most to you. They work with your other doctors, and family members are often included in these conversations.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can tell you what applies to you.

Thanks for watching.
