Hello, my name is Roberto Cattaneo. I'm an orthotist and prosthetist.
What happens at a first fitting?
At a first fitting, a new brace, artificial limb or helmet is tried on, sometimes starting with a trial version. The orthotist or prosthetist, who designs and fits these devices, checks how it sits and lines up.
For a leg, you may stand or take a few steps. Small changes may be made by trimming, heating or padding. Once it comes off, the skin is checked for red marks that show where it presses.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your orthotist or prosthetist can explain what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
