Hello, my name is Hiwot Girma. I'm an ophthalmic technician.

What does an oculoplastic surgeon treat?

An oculoplastic surgeon is an eye surgeon with extra training in plastic and repair surgery of the eyelids, tear ducts and eye socket.

Common reasons for a visit include droopy upper lids, lids that turn in or out, and extra lid skin. Other reasons include watery eyes from a blocked tear duct and bumps or growths on the lids. Some surgeons also treat injuries around the eye and socket problems linked to thyroid disease.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your surgeon can explain what applies to your own eyes.

Thanks for watching.
