Hello, my name is Dr. Valadares. I'm an occupational medicine physician.
What is included in a DOT physical?
A DOT physical is a health exam for drivers of certain commercial vehicles, done by a certified medical examiner. It starts with a health history form.
The exam includes vision and hearing tests, blood pressure and pulse, and a urine test that is not a drug test. The urine is checked for signs such as protein, blood or sugar. The examiner also checks the heart, lungs, belly, spine and reflexes, then decides whether to issue a medical certificate.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your medical examiner can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
