Hello, my name is Dr. Ochoa. I'm a neurosurgeon.
What happens at a neurosurgery consultation?
A neurosurgery consultation is a meeting with a surgeon who treats problems of the brain, spine and nerves. Recent scans, such as an MRI or CT, are usually reviewed. Images and reports from other places are often requested before the visit.
The neurosurgeon asks about symptoms and past treatments. The exam may check strength, reflexes, walking and feeling. Options besides surgery, such as physical therapy, medicines or injections, might be discussed along with surgery, its risks and recovery.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your surgeon can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
