Hello, my name is Dr. Engelbrecht. I'm a nephrologist.
What happens at a kidney visit?
A kidney visit often starts with a check of blood pressure and weight, and many visits include a urine sample. Blood tests, often done before or at the visit, show how well the kidneys filter waste.
The kidney doctor reviews the results, asks about symptoms and goes over current medicines, since some medicines affect the kidneys. Food and fluid choices might also be discussed. The visit usually ends with a plan for tests, medicines or the next visit.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your kidney team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
