Hello, my name is Dr. Lipsky. I'm a neonatologist.
What happens at a follow-up visit?
A NICU follow-up visit checks how a baby is growing and developing after a stay in the newborn intensive care unit.
The baby is weighed and measured, including head size, and has a physical exam. A specialist, such as a developmental pediatrician or therapist, often watches the baby play to see how they move, reach, babble and respond. Parents are asked about feeding, sleep and daily life, and the team shares what they saw and any next steps.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your baby's care team can tell you what applies to your baby.
Thanks for watching.
