Hello, my name is Jens. I'm a naturalist.
Can I hold the owl?
Owls at a nature center are usually held only by trained staff. The owl sits on the handler's thick leather glove. The glove keeps the owl's sharp claws, called talons, off the handler's skin.
Owls can get stressed by close hands and loud sounds. You can sit still and use a quiet voice. Then the handler might bring the owl a bit closer. You might see its big eyes and soft feathers.
When the talk ends, the handler carries the owl back to its home.
Thanks for watching!
