Hello, my name is Carol Sorensen. I'm a memory care director.

How is memory care different from assisted living?

Memory care is senior living made for people with dementia or other memory problems. It is often a separate wing of an assisted living building.

Assisted living gives help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing and medicines. Memory care adds more support on top of that. Its doors are usually secured, and many have enclosed gardens or patios where people can walk freely. Staff often have extra training in dementia care, and days usually follow a steady routine.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your service. This is general information, not personal instructions. The staff at your community can tell you what applies to you.

Thanks for watching.
