Transcript

Hello, my name is Denis Hodnett. I'm a mediator.

How does mediation work?

Mediation is a meeting where a neutral person, the mediator, helps people in a disagreement talk it through and look for a solution. The mediator does not take sides or decide who is right.

A session often starts with the mediator explaining the ground rules, then each side describing the problem in their own words. The mediator may also meet with each side alone. If the people reach an agreement, the mediator often helps put it in writing.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your service. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your mediator can explain what applies to your own case.

Thanks for watching.
