Hello, my name is Rajinder Singh Dhanoa. I'm a labor nurse.
What happens when we arrive in labor?
Arriving in labor usually starts with check-in at the labor and delivery unit. A nurse often brings you to a triage area first to check on labor and the baby.
The nurse asks about contractions, leaking fluid and the baby's movements. Soft belts on the belly often track the baby's heart rate and contractions. The cervix may be checked to see how far it has opened. Then you may be admitted, or sent home to rest if labor is early.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
