Hello, my name is Manpreet Singh Atwal. I'm a lymphedema therapist.
What happens at a lymphedema visit?
A lymphedema visit is a session with a therapist trained to treat swelling from a buildup of lymph fluid. Early visits often include health questions, a skin check and measurements of the swollen area.
Treatment often includes manual lymphatic drainage, a very light massage that moves fluid toward areas that can drain it. The therapist may then wrap the limb in layers of padding and bandages. Exercises, skin care and, later, compression garments are often part of care.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your therapist can explain what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
