Hello, my name is Sheeba Mathew. I'm a lactation consultant.
What happens at a feeding visit?
A feeding visit is an appointment for a parent and baby with a lactation consultant or another feeding specialist. It usually starts with questions about the birth, feeding so far and the parent's health.
The baby is often weighed on a sensitive scale before the consultant watches a feeding, including positioning and latch. Weighing again after the feed can estimate how much milk the baby took. The consultant may also check how the baby's tongue moves and talk through a feeding plan.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your lactation consultant can tell you what applies to you and your baby.
Thanks for watching.
