Hello, my name is Thanh Pham. I'm a phlebotomist.
What happens at check-in?
Check-in at a lab patient service center starts with signing in, often at a kiosk or at the front desk. Staff confirm your name, date of birth and insurance, and find the test order from your clinician.
After a wait to be called, the phlebotomist, who draws blood, checks your name and date of birth again. Each tube or sample cup is labeled with your details. Someone may ask when you last ate, since some tests depend on it.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
