Why do I need to wear socks?

Many indoor playgrounds ask kids to take off their shoes and wear socks to play. Shoes can bring in dirt and mud from outside. Socks help keep the mats and slides clean.

Socks also cover your feet as you climb, crawl and slide. Bare feet can stick to slides. Some places use grip socks with rubbery bumps. You can put your shoes in a cubby before you go in.

When it is time to leave, you get your shoes and put them back on.
