Transcript

Hello, my name is Losa Fuimaono. I'm a critical care nurse.

Who are the people on the ICU team?

An ICU team cares for patients who need close watching and treatment day and night. A critical care doctor, often called an intensivist, usually leads it.

ICU nurses usually care for fewer patients at a time than nurses on other floors. Respiratory therapists manage breathing machines and oxygen. Pharmacists, dietitians, therapists and social workers often help too, and other specialists may be called in. In teaching hospitals, doctors in training also work on the team.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your family member's care team can explain what applies to them.

Thanks for watching.
