Hi, I'm Dr. Okamoto, a hematologist.
Why do they check my blood again?
A blood check counts the different cells in your blood. Red cells carry oxygen, and white cells fight germs. These counts can change, so the doctor checks them again to compare with last time.
For the check, a stretchy band often goes around your arm. Someone cleans a spot on your skin. You can look at your grown-up and take slow breaths. Then someone uses a needle to fill small tubes.
A bandage goes on the spot, and the tubes go to the lab.
