Transcript

Hello, my name is Tamati Paewai. I'm a hand therapist.

What happens at a first hand therapy visit?

A first hand therapy visit usually begins with questions about your injury or surgery and how you use your hands. The therapist then often measures how far your fingers and wrist move, and sometimes grip strength.

Swelling, feeling and any scars may be checked too. Some people get a custom splint, shaped on the hand from plastic softened in warm water. The visit often ends with exercises to do at home.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your hand therapist can tell you what applies to you.

Thanks for watching.
