Hello, my name is Dr. Quon. I'm a hand surgeon.
What happens at a first visit with a hand surgeon?
A first visit with a hand surgeon focuses on what is happening in your hand, wrist or arm. The surgeon asks when your symptoms started, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect work and daily tasks.
The exam often compares both hands, checking motion, strength, grip and feeling in the fingers. X-rays are often taken, and nerve tests or other imaging are sometimes ordered. The surgeon then explains possible options, which may include splints, therapy, injections or surgery.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your hand surgeon can explain what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
