Hello, my name is Dr. Ledford. I'm a gynecologist.
What happens at an annual exam?
An annual exam is a yearly checkup with a gynecology clinician. It usually starts with a conversation about periods, birth control, sexual health and any changes since the last visit.
Weight and blood pressure are usually checked. A breast exam or a pelvic exam may be part of the visit, depending on age, history and the person's wishes. Not every annual exam includes a Pap test, since cervical screening follows a schedule based on age and past results.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your clinician can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
