Hello, my name is Jaewon. I'm a track marshal.
Why do I have to be this tall?
Go-kart tracks often use a height sign to show who can drive and who can ride. A driver needs to reach the gas and brake pedals with their feet.
A driver also needs to see ahead and hold the steering wheel. The seat and any belts need to fit, too. Some tracks have two-seat karts, where a kid rides next to a grown-up driver.
You can stand up straight with your heels on the floor. Then a staff member checks your height against the sign.
