Hello, my name is Dr. Prinsloo. I'm a geriatrician.
What happens at a first geriatric visit?
A first geriatric visit looks at your health as a whole, not just one condition. It often includes a review of every medicine you take, including vitamins and supplements.
The clinician asks about sleep, mood, memory, falls and everyday tasks such as dressing, cooking or managing bills. Simple checks of walking, balance, hearing and vision are common. A family member or caregiver often joins, and the visit usually ends with a plan built around your own goals.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
