Hello, my name is Dr. Takerei. I'm a surgeon.
What happens at a surgical consultation?
A surgical consultation is a meeting with a surgeon to talk about whether an operation makes sense. It often starts with forms, a review of medicines and allergies, and questions about past surgeries.
The surgeon asks about symptoms, examines the area and reviews any scans or test results. When surgery is an option, the surgeon explains how it is done, its risks and benefits, other choices and what recovery involves. Some people need more tests before surgery is scheduled.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your surgeon can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
