Hello, my name is Dr. Cadotte. I'm a gastroenterologist.
What happens at a first GI visit?
A first GI visit looks at the stomach, intestines, liver and other digestive organs. It often starts with forms, a review of medicines and a check of weight and blood pressure.
The GI doctor asks about symptoms, diet, bowel habits and family history, and the exam often includes pressing gently on the belly. Next steps might include blood work, a stool test or imaging. If a scope procedure such as a colonoscopy is needed, it is usually scheduled for another day.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can tell you what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
