Hello, my name is Dr. Varjavand. I'm an endodontist.
What is root canal treatment?
Root canal treatment removes inflamed or infected pulp from inside a tooth. The pulp is the soft inner tissue, with nerves and blood vessels. Deep decay, a crack or an injury can harm it.
The area is numbed, and a thin rubber sheet called a dental dam keeps the tooth dry. Through a small opening, the pulp is removed and the root canals are cleaned and shaped. The canals are then filled and sealed, and many teeth later get a crown.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your endodontist can explain what applies to your own tooth.
Thanks for watching.
