Hello, my name is Dr. Hagan. I'm an implant surgeon.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small post, often titanium, that replaces a tooth root. It is placed in the jawbone, where bone can grow tightly around it.
Planning often includes x-rays and a 3D scan that shows bone, nerves and sinuses. The post is placed during surgery, usually with a numbing medicine and sometimes with sedation. After the bone heals, a connector usually joins the post to a crown, a bridge or a denture.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your implant team can tell you what applies to your own mouth.
Thanks for watching.
