Hello, my name is Sipho. I'm a dental hygienist.
What does a dental hygienist do?
A dental hygienist cleans teeth and checks the gums. Hygienists work in dental offices, and some also visit schools or care homes.
You can rest your hands on your tummy and breathe slowly. Then the hygienist uses a thin tool to scrape off hard buildup called tartar. You might hear a scraping sound. Next, a small spinning cup polishes each tooth with gritty paste.
The hygienist might also take x-rays, floss your teeth or paint on fluoride. At the end, they might show you a good way to brush.
Thanks for watching!
