What happens at a cosmetic consultation?
A cosmetic consultation is a visit about changing the look of your smile, such as tooth color, shape or gaps. It often starts with questions about what you would like to change.
The dentist checks the teeth and gums, since decay or gum disease is usually treated before cosmetic work. Photos, x-rays or a digital scan may be taken, and tooth color may be compared with a shade guide. The dentist then explains options such as whitening, bonding or veneers.
