Hello, my name is Casey Eng. I'm a climbing instructor.
Why does everyone sign a waiver before climbing?
A waiver is a form most climbing gyms ask every climber to sign before climbing. It explains that climbing carries risks, such as falls, and that the climber accepts them and agrees to the gym's rules.
Many gyms take the waiver online or at a kiosk and keep it on file for later visits. A parent or guardian usually signs for a minor. Staff often check that a signed waiver is on file before anyone climbs.
Call the gym if you have questions about your visit or your classes. This is general information, not personal instructions. The gym's front desk can explain what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
