Transcript

Hello, my name is Shweta. I'm a cast member.

Why does it get dark?

A theater gets dark when a show begins, so the stage is easy to see. When the lights over the seats dim, the stage lights get brighter. That tells everyone the show is starting.

It is not totally dark. Small lights near the doors and steps often stay on. As the lights dim, you can hold your grown-up's hand. Then the show begins on the bright stage.

When the show ends, the lights over the seats come back on.

Thanks for watching!
