Transcript

Hello, my name is Geraldine Hollis. I'm an audiologist.

What happens at a balance evaluation?

A balance evaluation checks how the inner ear, eyes and body work together to keep you steady. It often starts with questions about your symptoms.

Many tests use video goggles that record eye movements while you follow a light, move your head or lie back. Warm and cool air or water in each ear canal may test one inner ear at a time. A hearing test is often included, and some clinics measure how steady you stand on a special platform.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your care team can explain which tests apply to you.

Thanks for watching.
