How do written estimates work before a repair?

A written estimate lists the work a shop plans to do and its expected cost, before any work starts. It usually shows the parts, the labor and the total.

An estimate often follows an inspection or a diagnostic check, and some shops charge for that step. The customer usually approves the estimate before work begins, often by signature, text or email. If the repair needs more, the shop usually asks for approval before going past the estimate.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your service. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your shop can explain how estimates work for your own repair.

Thanks for watching.
